Five ingredients
Low-stakes experiments that make room for spontaneity.
Real human connection without the networking script.
Get out of your chair and back into your body.
Space to breathe, reset and find your own rhythm.

Why we created it
Joymaker created this experience because play, connection and joy matter in a life well lived. Joy Playground is a playful adult experience—not leadership training, a workshop, or a professional development program.
Explore Joymaker CampPrice is $100 CAD per ticket, plus GST. Confirm event-specific inclusions with the organizer.
A rare kind of quiet
We invite everyone to switch off and put their phone away for the experience. We’ll share an emergency contact method before the event so loved ones can reach you if needed.

Good things to know
You're not paying $100 to attend a conventional birthday party. You're helping us create an entire environment designed around play, human connection, movement, presence, and rejuvenation. Your ticket covers a full day of facilitated experiences, the mansion, amenities, dinner, and everything we need to create the Playground. Our multi-day Joymaker Camp is a much deeper training experience. Joy Playground was created as a dramatically more accessible way to experience the play, connection, and aliveness without committing to a full camp. Come tired. Leave ridiculously alive.
Because ridiculous mansions in Vancouver are hard to come by. Being outside the city also helps this feel like an actual escape from normal life rather than another event squeezed between errands. And you don't need your own car.
We're creating a ride-sharing group for everyone coming from Vancouver. Drivers can offer their extra seats and people who need rides can join them. We'll coordinate everything before the event so transportation doesn't have to stop you from coming. Think of the carpool as the beginning of the Playground.
Absolutely. You don't need to know anyone. The experience is intentionally designed so you don't spend the entire day inside the little group of people you arrived with. The activities progressively help everyone meet, play, and connect. You'll probably know a lot more people by dinner.
You do not need to arrive energetic, extroverted, confident, or "good at playing." That's kind of the point. We'll start gently and progressively build the energy throughout the day. You can arrive exactly as you are.
No. Everyone needs to be present for our opening ceremony. That's when we establish the agreements, consent practices, and psychological safety that allow us to spend the rest of the day being playful and open together. Someone arriving halfway through hasn't gone through that process with the group. Please only purchase a ticket if you can be there from the beginning.
Yes. 📵 Phones will be surrendered at the beginning of the experience and safely stored. This isn't punishment. It's one of the main ingredients. We're experimenting with what happens when a group of adults spends an entire day giving one another their undivided attention. If there's an emergency, we'll have a way for you to be reached.
No. We want you participating, experimenting, and occasionally stretching your comfort zone. But consent always wins. You can opt out of an activity. Physical touch always requires consent. A clear "no" is something we respect rather than try to overcome. Participation is invited, not forced.
Not exactly. Authentic relating will be one ingredient. So will play. So will movement. So will silliness. So will doing absolutely nothing in a hot tub with your friends. This isn't eight hours of staring intensely into another person's eyes and discussing your childhood. We're trying to create aliveness, not heaviness.
Expect to move your body. There will be physical games and movement activities throughout the day, but this is not an athletic competition or fitness retreat. Most activities can be adapted. You are always responsible for listening to your body.
No. Some activities may offer opportunities for touch, but touch always requires consent. We'll establish our consent agreements together at the beginning of the day. A brave no is always welcome.
We'll make and eat dinner together as a community. We'll collect dietary restrictions before the event so we can plan accordingly. Cooking together is part of the experience rather than something happening invisibly behind the scenes.
No. Joy Playground is sober. Part of the experiment is discovering just how much fun and connection a group of humans can generate without needing substances—or screens—to create it.
We'll explain exactly what is being captured before anything is filmed. You can opt out of being photographed or recorded. Presence first. Content second.
Kind of. I'm using my birthday as an excuse to create the day I actually want to have: A house full of people I love playing, connecting, moving, eating together, and being completely present. You're not coming to stand around holding a drink and sing Happy Birthday to me. You're coming to play.
Your ordinary can wait
The part of you that wants to laugh, move, and feel fully here is invited.

You didn't need a reason to run around, make friends, invent something ridiculous, or laugh until your stomach hurt. Then we became adults. Joy Playground is an experiment in bringing that part of ourselves back. We're taking over a mansion for an entire day and turning off our phones. There is nothing to achieve. The goal is to leave feeling more alive than when you arrived.
Games designed to make you laugh, experiment and access the version of yourself that doesn't take everything so seriously.
Authentic relating and meaningful conversations that take us beyond small talk.
Physical games, movement and dancing that get us out of our heads and back into our bodies.
Hot tub, red light therapy, good food and downtime in a beautiful house full of humans.
Your phone goes away for the day. For one day, the people in front of you get your full attention. An emergency contact route will be available.

I'm Jacques. As The Party Scientist, I energize rooms. As Joymaker Prof, I give leaders the charisma and methods to ignite joy wherever they go.
I'm on Earth to empower leaders to step the #### up, captivate the room, and spread the world's greatest antidepressant—JOY! My goal is to empower Joymakers—leaders who radiate social confidence, captivate any crowd, and leave everyone buzzing with joy.
Over 5 years, while working as a festival medic saving intoxicated youth, I discovered my life’s purpose. This sparked a sober partying movement that caught the eye of VICE, Elle, Macleans, and Global News.
Though I hold a Bachelor of Pharmacology degree, I skipped the traditional path. Instead, I teach people how to tap into their body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals through connection, music, and healthy living.
Since 2017, I’ve led thousands of joyful events across 15+ countries, rocking international festival stages and corporate offices like Accenture and LUSH Cosmetics. Today, I continue to host sober parties and happiness workshops in my hometown of Vancouver, Canada, spreading my message of natural, connection-driven joy.
If you're not happy with your Joymaker resource, I'll replace it with another resource or audiobook on my site for free.
